The IAM Mentorship Committee began hosting Webinar Wednesdays a few years ago modeled after conference Juntos utilizing the Zoom.com platform. The webinars have been presentation and discussion based.
In 2019, the Webinar Committee is shaking up the format and there will be two different formats for Webinar Wednesdays. One month will be a presentation and discussion based webinar. The next month will be a Professional Development Group (PDG) meeting. Both formats will alternate each month, typically last one hour, and are usually on the last Wednesday of each month.
We kicked off the 2019 Webinar Wednesday series on January 30, 2019 with a fabulous presentation from Larry Rute and Lela Love who shared their experiences and insights on co-mediating commercial mediations. In February, the webinar committee will introduce the first Professional Development Group (PDG) meeting. Facilitated by an IAM Distinguished Fellow or Fellow, the goal of the PDG meeting is to provide an open forum discussion around business and skill development.
The 2019 schedule is below. We are seeking webinar presenters for the March 27 and July 31 webinars. You can share your knowledge and experience on any topic of interest! If you are stumped for ideas, a few current topic suggestions from mentees include:
- Cross-Cultural Issues that arise in mediation
- Ethical questions/situations and how a mediator navigates and responds
- Gift giving/gift receiving – ethics, practicalities, and success as a business development tool
If you are interested in facilitating a PDG Meeting, let us know as well!
